"I would like to thank everyone who voted for me and supported my campaign over the past 6 months. It was a difficult election for the Conservative Party, after 14 years in Government. Whilst I am proud of what the Conservative Party has achieved overall for the UK during that time, it is clear our party needs to focus on improving trust and confidence, especially those who had voted Conservative for the first time in 2019. Whilst I am disappointed not to have won, I am pleased we came second and this creates a strong foundation for the future in Mid Cheshire."

Charles's speech at the Count:
"I would also like to thank the Retuning Officer and the Count staff. I would also like to congratulate Andrew Cooper on his election as the first Member of Parliament for Mid Cheshire since 1885.
I would like to thank everyone who has voted for me as the Conservative Candidate, those who in difficult times were able to keep the faith.
Finally I would like to thank my small but dedicated team who never gave up, in particular my Agent Max and my Chair Gaynor, but most of all my wife Vickie and my family. Thank you."
